My Teaching Philosophy

T.E.A.M.: Together We Achieve More!

Education is a partnership between all parties interested in student learning. I believe students themselves should take responsibility for their own learning, but the school, parents and community also take part responsibility for the success of all students. By working together in a collaborative manner, we can strive to make each individual student reach their potential. As an educational leader I take responsibility for assuring the close networking of all the groups involved meet the needs of my individual students.

I believe all students should be provided with an environment in which they feel safe, secure, confident and have a strong sense of belonging to their school and community. Each member of the school community must work together to create this climate of support and encouragement all students should be provided with a wide variety of educational opportunities supported by learning materials and resources which promote realistic and positive outcomes. Ensuring the success of our students involves developing the whole child; identifying their personal strengths and providing assistance or adaptations in the areas they are not yet developed.

I hope to offer a variety of learning opportunities both in and out of regular school class hours to promote the success of all my student’s endeavours. In my opinion, schools are not just physical buildings but are made-up of the people inside each day, as well as the surrounding community. All these people work together for the benefit of all children each day and year by building connections and relationships with one another. These connections allow us to understand each other, work towards common goals, solve problems and make decisions. Being an educational leader, it is crucial to be involved in the school and maintain the many dynamic relationships.

I believe as teachers we must be life-long learners, gather information from a variety of sources and perspectives, analyze information then question the results, make necessary decisions and changes as appropriate, and must continue to monitor students learning to see they are truly improving and learning what I am teaching. I am passionate about working collaboratively having students staff parents and community involved, because the strength of collaboration with the members of the school community leads the school down the path of improvement.

I hope to deliberately promote a system whereby a great number of leaders rise out of each opportunity given in my classroom and school. I strive to provide opportunities for my students to take on leadership roles in the areas of interest or expertise and promote the collaborative model. Nothing would make me happier as a teacher then to be a part of a school where I can see students working together with each other, where parents support their children's teachers, teachers support students and their families, as well as administrators supporting teachers, parents, and students, as stated above as a team, together we achieve more.
